A recently conducted study reveals that women spend more money than men on their beauty and wardrobe. Victorian women are found to be on the top of this list. A poll carried out reveals that women who have a flare for the latest fashion and trends spend on an average $621 annually to fill up their wardrobe. The recent survey conducted on the spending habits of both the sexes has found that being a woman is no “cheap” affair, you have to spend hundreds of dollars on your maintenance and over all look.
According to the survey, women spend an extra $138 on average than men on various luxuries. The report is titled “The Cost of Being a Woman” and it is predicted to once again start up the endless debate of whether women are overcharged on everyday purchases such as t-shirts and haircuts than men. The report shows that women spend a hefty total of $2357 on entertainment, their wardrobe, gifts, hair care and beauty products whereas men in comparison spend a total of $2219.
If you’ve made up your mind about men’s low spending habits, I’m going to stop you right there because metrosexual NSW men are battling spending records with the fairer sex. Men tend to spend their $$$ more on restaurants, gyms, sports clubs and pubs, whereas women concentrate more on beauty products and gifts. Victorian men spend a low $210 per year on grooming, whereas females have to spend steep amounts to keep up appearances. Dr John Spoehr, the executive director of the Australian Institute for Social Research revealed that the findings of the survey had shocked him to say the least. The survey suggests that men are slowly tilting the scales towards them whereas spending on luxury items and their personal grooming is concerned.
